About Power Jointing

A local company with regional expertise, delivering safe and reliable infrastructure for more than 20 years.

Delivering Trusted Electrical
Services Since 1998

Since 1998, PJL has been a trusted name in electrical services across Canterbury and beyond. Founded as one of New Zealand’s first independent distribution contractors, PJL initially specialised in underground and overhead electrical work for Orion NZ Ltd. Over the years, we’ve expanded our capabilities to include design, traffic management, and comprehensive civil and electrical solutions. Our reputation is built on reliability, technical expertise, and strong community partnerships. The pioneering spirit of our early cable jointing work remains at the core of everything we do today, driving our commitment to quality and innovation.

From Local Beginnings
to Regional Specialists

PJL started as a small Christchurch-based contractor focused on underground electrical distribution, and has grown into one of Canterbury’s most trusted names in electrical and civil infrastructure.

We offer high-voltage and low-voltage cable jointing and overhead work, complex network construction, design, and traffic management. As Orion and MainPower contractors, we deliver safe, compliant, and efficient projects for councils, developers, and contractors across the South Island.

Many of our team members have been with PJL for more than a decade, and uphold PJL’s core values: trust, accountability, and pride in quality workmanship. We invest in training, technology, and safety to ensure every project meets our high standards and community focus.

Founded in 1998, PJL was one of NZ’s first independent contractors specialising in cable jointing. From humble roots, PJL has evolved into a preferred South Island electrical contractor, successfully completing hundreds of electrical and specialty civil projects.
